With over 30 years of experience in the investment industry, senior wealth advisor and portfolio manager Laurel Marie Hickey is a co-founder of iii Global Wealth.
In September 2024, Hickey brought iii Global Wealth to Wellington-Altus Private Wealth.
The “iii” comes from investing in inclusivity and also stands for “invest, involve, inspire.” These are two mottos that Hickey upholds when helping people achieve their financial goals.
She believes that everyone should have a wealth plan regardless of their financial situation or the stage of life they are at.
“I am passionate about involving you and those important to you in the process, so that you can live an inspired life knowing that you have a plan in place,” says Hickey.
For iii Global Wealth, collaboration is key while looking at wealth management from a global perspective.
Hickey’s passion is financial literacy, and she is dedicated to global financial learning. She believes that investing is not only about adding money to clients’ portfolios, but also about investing in clients and their families as people, through:

“While in the broker channel, I had the privilege of working alongside former Rising Star winners Nick Rizzuto and Adam Mitchell, CEO of Mitch Insurance,” says Manson. “My focus has always been on deepening my industry knowledge and delivering tailored solutions to my clients rather than seeking the spotlight.”
IBC recognized Manson as a Rising Star of 2024 for his significant achievements and influence in positively impacting the industry.
Since joining the IBADR, Manson has helped increase the affiliate’s exposure, raise awareness about its work, and boost event attendance through new social outings and RIBO-accredited courses. These efforts have helped increase membership and the charitable donations raised by the IBADR.
Manson is passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge to help educate others and raise awareness of industry issues. He strives to offer unique perspectives on how the industry can evolve, grow, and enhance its products and services.

Manson plans to keep using his voice to help the industry advance.

“I am actively engaged as the lead in our Investment Committee, where I make decisions on the capital allocations of the proprietary models that we manage,” Hickey adds. “I am devoted to helping clients understand their risks, opportunities and market trends, and I am honoured to navigate the markets with them.”
Patience is key for the Calgary-based advisor.
“Building a team takes connection and consistency. Mentorship is the key to building an amazing team and it takes time to connect and create consistency for each team member. Slowing my own process down so that I can meet each team member where they are so that we can grow together.”
Hickey’s remarkable consistency is her greatest strength.
“Someone once described me by saying that she knew exactly what she was going to get and the support that she would receive every time she talked with me. She said I was consistent every time in my message, my thought process, how I moved through decisions. I always remember that conversation and it inspires me to this day to be true to my process,” Hickey reveals.
“Helping our clients and families preserve and grow wealth in every aspect is incredibly important to me.”
She continues, “What I enjoy the most is connecting with our clients. Making a difference, and a positive impact means so much. Having a special focus and intention with our responsibilities invites connection and collaboration. It is an honour being the first point of contact for financial priorities with clients and to be of service in an impactful way.”
