Over the course of 25 years, Kelvin Rampersad has built a thriving practice and established himself as a respected member of the financial services industry. And all through that time, his approach to advice hasn’t changed.
Since he began his career in 1988, Rampersad has dedicated himself to safeguarding his clients’ financial health and making sure their dreams become reality. Today, he calls himself “The Money Guy,” but that doesn’t mean he’s all about maximizing dollars and investment returns.

Kelvin Rampersad
Regardless of his success, Rampersad makes it a point to treat everyone equally and respectfully. That down-to-earth personality and trademark humility is something he takes everywhere not just with clients, but also the many business associates and friends he’s accumulated over time.
“I’ve been fortunate to have extreme success in my career, and it’s thanks to the many amazing people I’ve worked with over the years,” he says.
Despite putting in countless hours, Rampersad has stood out for his ability to make work seem easy and effortless. That rare skill has allowed him to go far professionally – and he’s taken so many others along for the ride.
In 2011, Rampersad joined Carte Financial Group as a financial advisor. Just four years later, he became the vice president of Carte Wealth Management, the Carte family’s mutual fund dealer business; he also became president of Carte Risk Management, the insurance MGA.
Later in 2017, he chose to give up his position as vice president and get back to what brings him true joy: serving his clients and growing his book of business as a financial advisor.
Today, he leads Team Rampersad at Carte Wealth Management with the invaluable assistance of Hilary MacLean, associate advisor and Julia Garcea, marketing manager. Getting to work with Rampersad, according to the two, is like “winning the lottery.”
Even after giving up his leadership role at Carte, Rampersad continues to help other advisors make more money than they thought possible, while still increasing their personal happiness.
“I strongly believe in working smarter, not harder,” he says. “I think it’s one of the keys to living a great life, and I want to share that with as many people as possible.”

Teaching is another critical ingredient to Rampersad’s success. Within his practice, clients enjoy his ability to break down financial topics – including financial planning, retirement planning, life insurance, and investing in RRSPs vs. TFSAs – to a level that everyone can understand.
More broadly, he does his part to promote financial literacy among Canadians through the power of mass media. He currently co-hosts two bi-weekly radio shows where listeners can call in with questions and contact him afterward for more in-depth consultations.
“I’d like to continue growing my business by growing my radio listener base,” Rampersad says. “I’m also contemplating writing a book about personal finance, and I hope to have my own call-in TV show on a news channel.”
Outside the world of finance, Rampersad enjoys spending time with his wife, Veronica, and their two children.
