Roderick Mahrt is a founding partner at The Mahrt Investment Group and a senior portfolio manager at Wellington-Altus Private Wealth. He has over 35 years of industry experience and holds a Political Science and Economics degree from the University of Victoria. He is a Fellow of the Canada Securities Institute.
Rod previously served on the board of the Victoria Symphony, Great Victoria Chamber of Commerce and Glenlyon-Norfolk School as well as the investment Committee of St. Michael’s University School. He was also chair of the National Advisory Board at a Big 6 bank.
For him, the concept of a family office is rooted in the belief that many high-net-worth clients require more than traditional investment advice. They need professionals that look at their entire financial and family picture, helping them to make decisions that impact future generations and their legacy. Rod embraces his fiduciary responsibilities when tailoring investment portfolios to reflect shifting political and economic realities.
Despite having over three decades of experience at a Canadian bank-owned firm, he has pivoted to the next chapter of his career, believing that independent investment firms are in the best position to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities to clients. He has two goals for clients: 1) construct tax-efficient portfolios customized to risk tolerance and 2) create a wealth plan to identify core goals and strategic opportunities.
