“I will continue to empower and encourage my staff to perform at their best as I have done for the last decade. I will continue to advocate for my clients, embracing new technology and being open to business and industry changes”

Heather Holjevac founded the Holjevac Financial Group in 2019, following three decades of experience in the wealth industry.
The initial spur to pursue a career in wealth came from Holjevac’s reaction to her mother’s divorce, which caused her to believe in offering a platform to empower individuals, particularly women, with better financial opportunities and understanding.
“As my career progressed, I adapted to opportunities that aligned with my mission and values, which ultimately led me to establish my own female-led financial planning firm.”
Her practice has seen significant success, with the next steps being continued expansion to enhance the level of service to her clients.
A key driver in Heather’s rise is the focus on offering truly independent advice-only fee-for-service planning.
“The ability to adapt and innovate, especially in response to the evolving financial landscape caused by the pandemic plays a crucial role. I have been committed to providing timely and relevant independent advice to guide clients through turbulent times, ultimately contributing to their financial security.”
Founding her own firm was a logical step for Holjevac, who is a highly respected member of the industry. In 2012, she received the honour of the FP Canada Fellow Distinction, which confirms a commitment to FP Canada’s mandate to advance professional financial planning in Canada.

Advocating for women is also an initiative that Holjevac is celebrated for.
She explains, “Being a woman in the wealth industry has inspired my mission to empower women and foster financial equality. It has allowed me to better understand the unique financial challenges women face, and I’ve used this insight to develop tailored strategies and advocate for women’s financial well-being.”
Within that scope, she has additionally focused on the ‘sandwich generation’ of women, who have the added challenge of assisting aging parents and adult children.
“I make sure they have all the tools they need to feel confident when it comes to their finances.”
Alongside running her firm, Holjevac has made significant contributions to the wider industry by:
advocating for financial literacy, women’s empowerment, and gender diversity
public speaking
authoring books
emphasizing inclusivity and equitable access to financial resources
Holjevac aims to continue these efforts by becoming a larger employer of women in the wealth industry and also becoming the preferred go to expert for more female clients.
“My goals are to continue to reach a broader audience through financial literacy and advancing gender diversity in both leadership roles within my firm and the industry as a whole, all while meeting the industry’s exacting standards.”
She adds, “My overall attitude is one of resilience and advocacy, where I strive to challenge the status quo, foster inclusivity, and provide holistic financial guidance.”
