As a product manager, Rios knows that success is all about prioritizing and making trade-offs. The VP continually strives to find a balance between upskilling her team and herself.
“The more capable my team is, the more they can take on and allow me to tackle difficult problems, of course, but there is always a balance between the longer-term training and needing to get some work done in the short term.”
While Rios admits she doesn’t always get it right, the VP takes every experience as an opportunity to grow and learn. “I find a lot of value and enjoyment in trying something new, and excitement in not knowing what problem needs solving on a given day.”

To stay competitive and continually build her product knowledge, Gray listens to podcasts and reads industry articles daily.
“I am fortunate to have access to some amazing and experienced investment managers here at Mackenzie who are always willing to share intel and insight,” she adds.
In addition to delivering value to clients, Gray leverages her expertise to give back to her community. As a dedicated mentor, the VP volunteers with local youth. A firm believer in the power of early financial education, she teaches investing basics while empowering students to explore careers in finance.
Recently, Gray has strived to create space for women in the investment industry.
“When I started my career in 2001, there were very few women. Today, women make up a small percentage of financial advisors in Canada. If we want that to increase, the industry needs to purposefully include women,” she notes.
“I’m doing my part to create educational events catered specifically for women, where we can feel comfortable asking questions and building camaraderie with other local women in the industry.”
Accordingly, Tesha recognizes the importance of connecting with and learning from others. “We’re in a relationship business with constantly changing markets, and my ability to gain insight not only from myself but from others’ experiences and share that is essential for my role.”
